The assignment called for the creation of a logotype for a restaurant concept. I developed the concept for an afternoon tea house based in Southern Arizona, naming it the "Prickly Pear Tea House" inspired by the indigenous cactus specie.
The tea house embraces the use of local and region specific ingredients. Accordingly it was necessary to incorporate elements from the actual prickly pear plant in the logo. Through researching the plant and thumbnails a script emerged.
The final result, as pictured, is a hand-rendered script with illustrative embellishments. The script was created to mimic the shape of prickly pear paddles. Illustrative additions further reflect qualities of the plant. The color of the logo is pulled directly from the fruit of a prickly pear. The result is feminine (due to the primary clientele) and natural, reflecting the surroundings.
