The Municipality of Quito, through the Trade Agency, promotes the development of autonomous commercial activity in an orderly and regularized manner within the public space in the Metropolitan District of Quito; to this end, the construction of the Trade Center "Comité del Pueblo" was established with a total investment of 5'400.000USD, to relocate the 378 informal workers who work in this sector.
The “Comité del Pueblo” is a historic neighborhood in the north of Quito, recognized mainly for the cultural diversity of its inhabitants, where it built the new "Comité del Pueblo" trading center whose visual identification system was designed under the attributes determined in the profile research: union, dynamism, diversity, comfort and modernity. We were able to develop a powerful graphic concept that unifies the history of the sector and the architectural stylistic features of the new infrastructure, with a commercial approach to face the competition formed by big supermarket chains.
This project also included the design of internal and external signage, promotional material and an extensive advertising campaign, which included promotion in buses, transit stops, Quito public spaces, social networks and media.
The users and merchants of this emblematic Trade Center are satisfied with the changes made. the public space recovered its beauty, and has generated the appropriation of all citizenship. The Municipality of Quito declared it an emblematic project for the orderly development of commerce and the recovery of public space.
