Angie Tribeca is a spoof of police procedurals, that pairs serious/straight performances with absurd dialogue and situations. As with season one, TBS wanted a visual that read straight and serious at first, but had something very off on the second read, mimicking the format of the show.
We looked for classic poses and situations that could be altered in subtle, but ridiculous ways to convey the tone of the show. The solution was key art featuring Angie in a classic, thoughtful pose, but instead of her hand on her chin, it is the paw of the police dog. For the tagline, we used fake quotes as a spoof on traditional reviews.
Season 2 ratings grew +13% over the Season 1 premiere. Only five other scripted cable comedies grew season over season in 2016. The Season 2 premiere also attracted large numbers of new viewers with 48% never having watched any Season 1 play (linear or VOD).
