A Japanese cuisine restaurant “Matsu Matsumoto” serves classic, traditional, yet modernly arranged Japanese cuisine. Matsu Matsumoto aimed to deliver the taste of the restaurant to as many people as possible by selling their original food products at department stores. Our assignment was to develop and design packages of those products for department stores.
The design concept is “taste of Japan”. We simply expressed the richness and the deliciousness of the Japanese food ingredients by graphic images and depicted the female chef’s thoughtfulness and love for food as she respects and values Japanese traditional taste very much. We also had to keep in mind that they will be sold at department stores, hence, we tried to keep the packages simple and approachable so they will be accepted by wide range of age groups. Considering the mass production, we used a single color for printing which allowed us to lower the printing cost to overcome the low budgetary issue.
The restaurant successfully gained its brand recognition and improved sales.
