This book is about a remarkable man—his name is Mo. Like many unsung heroes, his name will be unfamiliar. Those who know this quiet man of purpose and of his dauntless mission to serve the people of Bangula, Malawi, will appreciate the inspiration behind this visual narrative. Together, Mo and his wife, Joanna, and their three children, live and work side-by-side the poorest of the poor. Mo’s stunning photography is an opened aperture through which we see what he sees—a land of extremes, incredible deprivation, and a people who rise above the hardships with a capacity for joy.
Every Christmas we design a unique piece that serves to promote our creative services and benefit a philanthropic cause or organization.
We approached Mo (David Morrison) about creating a coffee table book that would tell his story pictorially and bring awareness to the wonderful work of Iris Ministries in Malawi. Mo was both excited and agreeable to this idea, and so we partnered together to write a brief narrative and selected the best of his photographic images. We agreed to produce enough books to present to our clients, as well as those who support their work.
The book has been extremely well received. It has already received an award of excellence from the Type Director's Club, and will be featured in an international traveling exhibit. It has raised awareness of this good work to both Riordon's key clients and supporters of the Morrison's, as well.
