Develop a logo for Jennifer Passey's City Council campaign.
Jennifer was prompted to run for local office after observing how the divisiveness of the 2016 presidential election seeped into her community. She was greatly concerned about the disintegration of dialogue between the parties and community.
Her platform of "finding common ground" is dedicated to bringing all sides together in dialog to reach consensus that benefits all.
Most campaign logos I observed sell the candidates name, not their platform. Given the current political atmosphere in the USA, I felt Jennifer's platform was desperately needed and should be strongly communicated.
My rationale was: sell platform first, name second. I believe this is the best way to cut through the campaign season frenzy.
My objective was to go back to the cornerstone of communication design: clarity of communication. Facing speech balloons = dialogue. Their blue and red colors represent the parties, their intersect of purple represents the "common ground" Jennifer is striving for. (Blue + Red = Purple)
Note the common ground area is less than the area of the individual speech balloons. That's compromise.
Jennifer and her campaign committee "love" the logo! Soon they will kick off their campaign for the fall elections. Will keep you posted....!
