The assignment was to use the interplay of positive and negative space to create a logo for a fictional business, in this case for a restaurant.
The approach taken was one of simplicity to allow the logo to be easily identified at a distance or at small scale. For this restaurant, the emphasis on breakfast and brunch made a chicken-and-the-egg logo the strongest choice, as it suggests early rising, health, and breakfast foods all at once. The emphasis is on a farm-to-table aesthetic reinforced by energetic, slightly old-school choices for color and typography.
This logo conveys the welcoming, fun nature of this brunch restaurant. The design unites a sense of whimsy with minimalism to create a brand that feels fresh — bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready for the day.
