The communication project of Mercado Temporário do Bolhão (Bolhão Temporary Market) is developed within the scope of the Visual Identity programme of Porto city, while the centenary market building undergoes a rehabilitation process. This rebuilt process will take about two years and, as so, it was necessary to adjust and prepare the temporary market space, next door to the original building. The initial briefing consisted in recreating, in the best way possible, the idea of a market of fresh products, as an equipment of the city, conditioned by the ephemerality brought by the rehabilitation on the emblematic building, due to be again open to the public in the year of 2021.
The communication project, developed from the grammar and graphic language of the city it belongs to, was the strategic support from which spatial and signage design derive.
The graphic image created was adapted to multiple supports: from painting the road pavement, posters, merchandising, to compositions for the Metro vehicles.
