LouFest is a homegrown outdoor music festival with a mix of local, regional and national touring acts, set against the backdrop of St. Louis’ favorite back yard – Forest Park. Now in its 7th year, and with its popularity increasing, the festival’s organizers wanted to emphasize the festivals St. Louis roots. So we delved into St. Louis’ historic past, and tipped our cap to one of Forest Park’s most famous events – the 1904 World’s Fair. Using inviting colors, approachable design and St. Louis’ favorite moniker (Lou), we created a series of posters that showcased many of the park’s most notable features. And with lines like, “Air meet guitar,” “Grass meet roots” and “Rock meet out,” we were able to highlight what’s great about experiencing music in the city’s crown jewel of an outdoor venue. We even convinced the festival’s organizers to bring in a ferris wheel in a final nod to the design’s inspiration, breaking all previous attendance records in the process.
